Associates Board Member Spotlight: Lindsey Carden

H.O.M.E.'s Assocaites Board (YPB) is a group of emerging leaders who are dedicated to H.O.M.E.'s mission. They come together to support our mission through leadership, fundraising, and volunteer activities.

Periodically, we'd like to introduce you to some of the members of the AB who make a difference in the lives of seniors in Chicago.

Meet Lindsey! guests of ypb (1)

What do you do ?

I work for Optum as the Regional Manager for Stars Initiatives. I work to create ways to ensure our Medicare Advantage population gets all the preventive health screenings they need and remove barriers holding back our aging population from general healthcare.

What are you involved in outside of the AB?

I am heavily involved in the LGBTQ&A community including being Vice President for FrontRunners/FrontWalkers as well as serving on the Events Chairperson for the Proud to Run annual 5K/10K run and 5K walk.  I serve on the Marketing committee for the Alzheimer Association of Chicago as well as Vice President of the Mississippi State Alumni Chapter.

Why did you join the AB?

My dear friend, Carla, recruited me because she knew I was new to the city and wanting to get involved and give back to a local organization for this underserved aging population.

What has been your favorite memory as a AB Member so far?

Weatherizing in the winter was very enjoyable with the Associates Board. I am also excited to be a Guest Chef in May with my MSU Alumni Chapter!

What have you learned from your experience as a AB member?

First, that H.O.M.E truly is an exceptional organization always focusing on the members rather than the money. Second, I believe in paying everything forward and volunteering/serving our elderly population is not only a need but a privilege.

What advice do you have for someone that’s interested in joining HOME’s YPB or any YPB/Associate/Auxiliary Board?

If you are interested in giving back, getting involved and making a difference, be brave and take the leap. You will learn more than you expect and meet amazing, like-minded people. It truly is a win-win.
