Pat Crowley House

Pat Crowley House

Pat Crowley House (1537 W. Rosemont Avenue, Chicago) is a three-story, partially-accessible, converted six-flat building located in Edgewater, opened in 1983. The house accommodates 12 seniors, 4 resident assistants, and one family with children in a cozy and inviting intergenerational community. Common areas include living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms.

History

The Pat Crowley House was named in honor of the co-founder of the Christian Family Movement and a well-known civic leader who died of cancer in 1974 at the age of 62. Pat Crowley was also an active volunteer with Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, where he met Michel and Lilo Salmon, H.O.M.E.’s founders. Pat Crowley's life exemplified the ideals of tolerance and compassion and provided the inspiration for this intergenerational home. In that spirit, the residents at The Pat Crowley House strive to live as a close-knit family, learning to share and care for one another.
