Young Professionals Making a Difference
Last week was National Volunteer week and we highlighted some of the volunteers that make the work that we do possible. One of the groups we highlighted was our Young Professionals Board.
What is a Young Professionals Board?
A Young Professionals Board (sometimes referred to as associate boards or auxiliary boards) is a group of emerging young professional volunteers who help nonprofits build their capacity. Joining a Young Professionals board is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while also engaging in professional development and networking.
What does H.O.M.E.’s YPB do?
H.O.M.E.'s YPB has been active since 2014. It got started with a group of volunteers and former interns who wanted to get more involved with the organization. Today H.O.M.E.'s Young Professionals Board (YPB) is a group of emerging leaders who are dedicated to H.O.M.E.'s mission. They come together to support our mission through leadership, fundraising, and volunteer activities.
The YPB is responsible for organizing smaller fundraisers and volunteer projects throughout the year. Members also act as ambassadors of H.O.M.E. to their own networks, much like the Board of Directors. Our YPB also plays a big role in helping plan our Annual Celebration Dinner by coordinating the Silent Auction.
Being a part of the YPB is an opportunity for meaningful professional development for members. H.O.M.E.’s YPB members also have the unique opportunity to bridge generational divides and build intergenerational relationships with the clients H.O.M.E. serves.
