Honoring Helen’s Legacy
Helen was a faithful donor to H.O.M.E. since 1996 when she began making yearly gifts each December. Her generous support over the years contributed to helping thousands of seniors remain independent members of their community.
We were saddened to hear of the passing of such a longtime supporter in September when her niece, Linda, called to let us know that she would be sending us documentation about her will.
Linda described Helen as a humble and giving person who never sought accolades during her lifetime. She lived simply and loved spending time with her family. In her working life, Helen worked as an administrative assistant for Continental Bank in Chicago.
By the time Helen became a donor to H.O.M.E, she herself was a senior living independently at Luther Village retirement community in Arlington Heights. She is like many of our donors who are grateful that they can afford a comfortable retirement and choose to give to us so that those who cannot afford such a retirement are able to receive the support they need.
In remembering H.O.M.E. in her will, her legacy of benevolence and concern for low-income seniors will go on for many years to come. Her bequest, like those of others who make planned gifts, were be put into a fund that will ensure that our programs can continue to serve seniors long into the future.
Have you considered what you want your legacy to be? Thoughtfully planned, any of the following giving options may provide important personal benefits while benefiting seniors for many years to come:
- Include a bequest to H.O.M.E. in your Will or Revocable Trust
- Designate H.O.M.E. as a beneficiary of your Retirement Assets - IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or pension
- Name H.O.M.E. as a beneficiary of your Life Insurance policy
