Huron helps H.O.M.E.
It was busy on Friday morning at Pat Crowley House (PCH) when the seniors' rooms were invaded by around 15 volunteers from the Huron Consulting Group, who installed air conditioners for the residents - right in time for the hot days that were coming and are still to come. Next stop was the basement. The wooden planks needed some love and were painted white, as well as the brick wall. Arguably biggest task was to set up the heavy and stubborn pool table. After struggling with moving the bare table from one basement side to the other and installing the legs (which was a long process of success and frustration), it was finally standing!

Monday morning was cinema day for the seniors at PCH. They like Richard Gere so they chose to watch 'The Dinner' at the Village Crossing AMC in Skokie. Well stuffed with soda and popcorn everyone was ready to go. Unfortunately, in the end the residents did not like the movie and were a bit disappointed.
But all of that was forgotten when they came back home and had sandwiches, freshly made by Lisa. She is a volunteer substitute cook who came on Monday and did an extraordinary job: she made lunch, dinner (meatloaf with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts), chocolate chip cookies and two strawberry short cakes! The seniors were happy to have her and they are looking forward to seeing her again on Friday.
In the evening, Lisa left and Anna Wilson came. Anna is well-known and a valued guest chef. She prepared lunch and dinner for the next three days in no time. Thank you very much, both of you, for all your effort - we highly appreciate your help!
Wednesday was a special day for the Good Life Senior Residences. All the people from Pat Crowley House were invited over to Nathalie Salmon House (NSH) to celebrate Community Night. This is an event where all the elderly, the housing coordinators and the resident assistants come together to have dinner and to celebrate all the birthdays for this month. After a plate of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, pasta and green salad, finished up with a huge birthday cake, the seniors gathered to play Bingo and enjoyed the nice weather.
