Many ways to get involved at H.O.M.E. to help seniors in Chicago

Jean_and_Sylvia.jpgThis summer we are welcoming several new faces to the H.O.M.E. family, all of whom are coming to us from varied backgrounds and for different roles. They all have one thing in common - they will be helping to put big smiles on the faces of seniors that we serve.

Help us in welcoming them!

Board of Directors

Michelle Newman recently joined the Board of Directors after serving nearly two years on H.O.M.E.'s Young Professionals Board as the Board Chair. Michelle is a Program Liaison at Rush University Medical Center - Health and Aging. In addition to her expertise in social work in the aging field, Michelle's leadership skills and involvement on the Young Professionals Board have proven to be a wonderful asset to H.O.M.E.

Intern

Charlie Sprague is a rising senior at Grinnell College majoring in English and Sociology. Charlie will be spending the summer in Chicago as H.O.M.E.'s Community Outreach Intern, and will be working directly with our Executive Director and program staff to reach out to the community about our programs for seniors in Chicago.

Volunteers

We have been delighted to have Carla Bieg, a volunteer from World Horizons, with us this year. She has been a great asset to H.O.M.E. as a Resident Assistant and Volunteer Supervisor, connecting individual and group volunteers with opportunities to serve seniors in our houses and in the community. While we are sad to see Carla go in August, we will be welcoming a new World Horizons volunteer who will be joining us just a few short weeks after her departure.

Resident Assistants

2015_Benefit_47.jpgResident Assistants who are typically college aged young people are an essential part of our Intergenerational Housing program. In return for room and board, Resident Assistants serve in a unique capacity as assistants to seniors, as well as companions. We have current openings for Resident Assistants and look forward to welcoming them this summer.
