2015 Annual Celebration Dinner: There's No Place Like H.O.M.E.
On Thursday, April 23rd nearly 300 H.O.M.E. supporters came together to celebrate H.O.M.E. at our Annual Celebration Dinner.
Guests enjoyed dinner and an evening of networking at Germania Place, a beautiful, historic venue in Downtown Chicago. The MC for the night was WGN Reporter Randi Belisomo who welcomed guests and encouraged them to have fun while supporting H.O.M.E.!
Guests enjoyed a Silent Auction and Wine Grab--top winners won trips to Florida, Blackhawks playoff tickets, and custom art and jewelry. Other winners won opportunities to engage with H.O.M.E. by having dinner with our seniors, joining them on outings, or taking a ride on the shopping bus.
After dinner, attendees heard more about the H.O.M.E. family and the work that we do through a short program and video about our unique housing and housing support programs. Cheers, tears, and laughter were heard throughout the Germania Place ballroom.
This year we also honored individuals and organizations who embody the spirit of H.O.M.E. and who have supported H.O.M.E. throughout the years.
At the Annual Celebration dinner we honored three extraordinary professionals in the aging field in Chicago who have all devoted their careers to helping seniors. On top of that they have been generous and loyal supporters of H.O.M.E., our staff and all that we do.
- Robyn Golden – Robyn is the Director of Health and Aging at Rush University Medical Center. She is also the former chair of American Society on Aging.
- Paula Basta – Paula is the Regional Director, Northeast (Levy) Senior Center, former Executive Director of H.O.M.E. and also serves as the chair of the LGBT Aging Issues Network of the American Society on Aging.
- Nancy Zweibel – Nancy is a Senior Program Officer at The Retirement Research Foundation and former President of H.O.M.E. Board of Directors
At the event we also honored some of our partners.
- C & M Auto Service has supported H.O.M.E. for years, they repair our housing vehicles for the cost of the parts only. The labor is completely free! We sincerely thank C &M Auto Service for their constant support.
- H.O.M.E. also honored Loyola University Chicago. For over 23 years their Community Nursing Center has provided nursing students who visit our residents at Pat Crowley and Nathalie Salmon Houses to provide health services on a one-on-one basis while they learn to put their skills to work in real world environments. Other Loyola students have provided activities and fellowship to our residents through the Loyola4Chicago program.
Finally, we honored Christine Buckley, a resident of Pat Crowley House, known for her community spirit, the volunteer work she does for H.O.M.E. and her participation for the last two years in the Hunger Walk. Christine embodies what H.O.M.E. is all about!
Together, as a community of H.O.M.E. supporters, we raised over $80,000!
Couldn't make it to our Annual Celebration Dinner? It's not too late to contribute to H.O.M.E.'s mission to help low-income seniors maintain their independence.
