What We're Reading This Dr. Seuss Day
Today is Read Across America Day (AKA Dr. Seuss Day).
Read Across America Day is an annual reading motivation and awareness day that calls for every community around the country to celebrate reading on March 2, Dr. Seuss's Birthday.
So, we wanted to share with you a list of what H.O.M.E.'s staff and interns are reading!
Amber, our Director of Development, just read Amy Poehler’s memoir Yes Please and is also in the middle of Toni Morrison’s novel The Bluest Eye.
Itzel, our Accounting Assistant, is reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Janet, our Program Director, is reading TransAtlantic by Colum McCann, and Too Brief A Treat: The Letters of Truman Capote.
Shefy, one of our Social Work Interns, just read Atul Gawande's Being Mortal. She said "It's a book about aging and living with the reality that dying isn't given a space in our society - and especially healthcare system today. It's a great read with a lot of insight".
Mike, our Operations and Volunteer Coordinator, is currently reading Revival by Stephen King
Bruce, our Executive Director, is reading History of Modern Tunisia by Kenneth Perkins, David: The Divided Heart by David Wolpe, The Road to Redemption by Burton Visotzke, and Up Country by Nelson DeMille
Max, one of our Social Work Interns, is currently reading True Love: A Practice for Awakening the Heart by Thich Nhat Hanh.
Kevin, our Buisness Manager, is reading a short story called The Call of Cthulhu by H. P. Lovecraft and is in the middle of the novel A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin.
As for me, I just started reading The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.
