Looking back at 2014 and Looking forward to 2015!
In 2014 I became a member of the H.O.M.E. family when I accepted my position as a Development Associate. Looking back on the last year I realized that I joined the agency at such an exciting time. In 2014 H.O.M.E. celebrated many successes!
-
At our Benefit Dinner this year, we Celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Nathalie Salmon House.
-
In January, we established a Young Professionals Board who later went on to plan several events through out the year.
-
We repaired 34 furnaces through out the year, most of these repairs took place during the cold Chiberian winter.
-
In April, we launched a redesigned Moving program.
-
In the fall we welcomed back our founders, Michel and Lilo Salmon, with a reception at NSH.
-
We launched this blog!
-
We Raised $19,068 on Giving Tuesday (and Bruce wore a toupee).
In 2014, we were also busy proving services to seniors in the City of Chicago! We impacted the lives of seniors in the following ways:
-
The Shopping Bus program provided 3,572 shopping trips to grocery stores and pharmacies for seniors living in isolation or food deserts
- Upkeep & Repair Program performed 773 repairs, of which 470 were emergency repairs, in 256 low-income senior households
- Intergenerational Housing Program provided affordable, intergenerational housing to 59 seniors and 27 younger adults and children
- In April 2014, the Moving Program launched and assisted 32 seniors with their moves since then
- Through our Volunteer Program, 155 volunteers weatherized 35 homes in the fall and winter
We also made a couple of our own resolutions for the new year (our program objectives). We’re looking forward to 2015 and the impact that we plan on making in the coming year!
In 2015 our Upkeep & Repair Program Objectives are to:
- Complete 800 home repairs in 300 households
- At least 70 percent of the homeowners who respond to our survey will report that their home is a healthier and safer place to be
In 2015 our Moving Program Objectives are to:
- Provide 4,000 shopping trips to low-income seniors
- Achieve a 60 percent response rate to hand-delivered client satisfaction surveys
- 75 percent of survey respondents will report that they have access to fresh, healthy foods that they otherwise would not have had
In 2015 our Intergenerational Housing Program Objectives are to:
- Maintain a minimum annual occupancy rate of 90 percent; at least 54 low-income seniors housed at our properties
- Offer 12 social outings in shared living annually with 75 percent of residents participating
