Young Professionals Board: A fun way to help seniors in Chicago

Yesterday, H.O.M.E.'s Young Professionals Board (YPB) met at the Pat Crowley House to volunteer as Guest Chefs. The group served dinner and made Halloween crafts with the seniors who live in H.O.M.E.'s shared living community.

This volunteer activity is just one of the many fun ways that the Young Professionals Board helps seniors in Chicago. The YPB leads activities throughout the year to support the work of H.O.M.E. This year, the group took on a leadership role in putting on H.O.M.E.'s annual benefit in March. They also participated in the Hunger Walk to raise money for H.O.M.E.'s account with the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Their next event is hosting a Cocktail Party at Bar Louie to benefit H.O.M.E.

The YPB introduces young professionals to the programs and work of H.O.M.E. Their objective is to promote the mission of H.O.M.E. through volunteer, social, and fundraising activities. The YPB members assist H.O.M.E. by attending regular meetings, working in committees to plan fundraisers and events, and promoting H.O.M.E. to their family and friends.

Benefits of being a part of the Young Professionals Board:

  • Grow your leadership skills by leading projects or chairing a committee
  • Meet and network with other caring young professionals
  • Be a part of a strong community
  • Help low-income seniors living in Chicago
