Pat Crowley House, an affordable alternative to a nursing home
The average daily cost of a private room in a nursing home in the United States is $70,080 a year, or $192 a day, according to the 2004 MetLife Market Survey of Nursing Home and Home Care Costs. Many people are forced to move to or remain in a nursing home, even though they don’t need skilled nursing care, just because there is no other place for them to live.
Pat Crowley House is an alternative for low-income seniors who need some assistance with daily activities, like having meals prepared for them, help with housekeeping and laundry and someone to accompany them to their medical appointments. In addition, the staff and volunteers of H.O.M.E. nurture warm, caring, consistent connections through personal interactions with our residents. On top of that, it costs only $12,000 a year or $33 a day for a senior to live at Pat Crowley House!
Philister Sidigu, one of the resident assistants at Pat Crowley House, has produced a short video about Alex Bugarovich, one of the seniors who lives there. Click here to view this poignant video.
