Patricia Bloom, MD

Dr. Patricia Bloom is a physician with over 40 years of experience in family medicine, geriatrics, and hospice care. She retired in 2017 after serving as the Medical director of Rainbow Hospice in Park Ridge, Illinois where she demonstrated leadership in end-of-life care from 2005 to 2017.

Dr. Bloom received her medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed a Family Medicine residency from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama. Throughout her career, Dr. Bloom has maintained multiple board certifications in Family Medicine, Geriatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Her expertise in elderly care is demonstrated through her various roles as medical director for nursing homes and health centers.

Currently Dr. Bloom contributes to her community through volunteer work with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and as a member of Impact Grants Chicago. Her comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems, particularly in geriatrics and palliative care, add a unique dimension to the H.O.M.E. board of directors.

What resonates with you most about H.O.M.E.’s mission?  

From the moment that I heard about H.O.M.E. and its mission it resonated with me. As a physician who cared for elderly people and as someone who is getting older myself, I know how challenging aging can be. Through its many outstanding programs H.O.M.E. can help its clients meet these challenges in a compassionate yet down-to-earth manner.
