A week at Pat Crowley House
The weekend was coming closer and the senior residents at Pat Crowley House (PCH) were looking forward to having Anna as a guest chef for dinner on Saturday again. Anna is a dedicated cook who has been a volunteer with H.O.M.E. for a long time, and she became a valued member in the hearts of the PCH seniors. This time, they were having lasagna with salad and garlic baguette, and for dessert chocolate pound cake. Thank you, Anna, for all your effort and time you share with us - and of course for the delicious food!
Three days later, on Tuesday, there was quite some business going on in the house: In the morning, the Loyola nurses were coming again to check on the residents' health and to talk to them about any concerns regarding their well-being.
Later that morning, volunteers from Parents Allied with Children and Teachers for Tomorrow (PACTT) did some cleaning in the floors and living spaces to keep the house neat for the seniors. PACTT helps people with autism become as independent as possible while harmonizing with society and their homes.
At the same time, the old chair lift at PCH got replaced, and is now ready to ride for the residents!
Everyone can help us with their unique abilities and individualism. So what about you? Volunteering is easy, it's all for the benefit of the seniors and you're only one click away:
