Job Description
Development Associate
Reports to: Director of Development
This position is a minimum of 24 hours per week with the possibility of working up to 30 hours per week.
Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Associate is responsible for assisting in planning and executing the development program and assisting in the progression and expansion of H.O.M.E.’s fundraising strategies. The Development Associate collaborates primarily with the Director of Development and Executive Director to reach annual and long-range goals.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Individual Fundraising
- Maintain donor database and generate queries and reports in Raiser’s Edge
- Assist Director of Development on the content for newsletters, appeals, and annual reports and the production of databases for the mailings
- Assist Executive Director and Director of Development with drafting and processing acknowledgement letters
- Generate call lists for Executive Director and Board as needed
- Generate mailing lists for appeals and events
- Institutional Fundraising (Corporations, Foundations, Congregations)
- With Director of Development, maintain the grant tracking system for proposals, reports, and calls to foundations and government agencies
- Manages grant reporting and monitors proposal dates for recurring and new deadlines
- Works with Executive Director and Director of Development to prepare cover letters, letters of inquiry, grants and grant reports
- Create and maintain foundation and corporate donor files
- With Director of Development, research prospective donors and foundations for cultivation and strategic engagement
- Enter data into Raiser’s Edge for donations and grants received on a weekly basis
- Marketing and External Communications
- With Executive Director and Director of Development, manages social media to increase H.O.M.E.’s online presence
- With Director of Development, assists in creating and processing distribution lists for marketing materials
- Monitors media for news, events, and research related to H.O.M.E. and distributes a daily email to staff
- Assists with newsletter and annual report preparation, as needed
- Special Event
- Assists with mailing of sponsorship packages, invitations, and other related materials
- Assists Director of Development and Event Committee with logistics leading up to and at the event
- General Organizational Responsibilities
- Operationalizes the mission of H.O.M.E. in daily work
- Collaborates well with other staff and assists with other duties as needed
Competencies:
- Ability to communicate effectively with potential donors, Executive Director, staff and the elderly
- Excellent organizational, verbal and writing skills
- Ability to multi-task
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in marketing, management, liberal arts, or related field preferred
- One year of experience in grant writing
- Experience in social services preferred
- Donor database experience, particularly Raiser’s Edge
- Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
