$20,000+ DONATION MADE TO LOCAL SENIOR SERVING ORGANIZATION
The Boom Foundation, dedicated to improving the lives of the elderly in Chicago, donates to a local partner as it decides to close its doors
Chicago, IL - After several years of working to raise awareness of elderly issues among younger generations, raising money to support elderly focused programs and causes, and hosting volunteer events to help low-income and isolated seniors, in the Chicago community, the Boom Foundation has closed its doors. It leaves behind a legacy of working through true partnership to establish committed and supported programs that help seniors. As they decided to close their doors, they chose to give their residual funds to one of their local partners, H.O.M.E. (Housing Opportunities and Maintenance for the Elderly).
On November 8th, Heath Hunter, James Buckley, and Jamie Barakat of the Boom Foundation met with Bruce Otto, Executive Director of H.O.M.E., to donate a check of $22,000 to the senior-serving organization. H.O.M.E. helps low-income seniors maintain their independence by providing services unlike any organization in the City of Chicago. H.O.M.E.’s services include upkeep and home repair to ensure seniors enjoy healthy and safe living conditions. A shopping bus assists seniors who have limited mobility or live in food deserts to have access to groceries, pharmacies and medical services that are essential to their well-being. H.O.M.E. also owns and manages three affordable buildings where seniors can choose between two styles of living—individual apartments or, for residents who need some assistance, shared living.
The Boom Foundation has worked with H.O.M.E. over the years to build its capacity in helping seniors maintain their independence. Boom now demonstrates faith in H.O.M.E. to fulfill the mission of both organizations – to provide the means to ensure that the elderly in our communities are not left behind.
