Volunteers and Staff Walked to End Hunger
Last year, 29 people walked to benefit H.O.M.E., and we raised more than $1,500. This year, more than 30 walkers completed the 3.2-mile walk. H.O.M.E. will not only receive credit based upon the amount of money raised on our behalf, but we will also receive credit for the number of people who registered and walked.
This year, with the help of our friends at GMC-PCMA, Board Members, employees, and other contributors, H.O.M.E. was able to raise more than $3,500 dollars. A very special thanks goes out to Boom Foundation members, who formed their own team and collected more than $5,700 in additional donations for H.O.M.E. After adding donations from the Depository, H.O.M.E. will have collected approximately $9,500 dollars for its account at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This is a fundraising record for H.O.M.E.! As a result H.O.M.E. will be able to purchase more than 135,000 pounds of food for the clients of the Intergenerational Housing Program!
We welcome you to sign up and walk with H.O.M.E’s team next year by contacting Mike Laz, Operations and Volunteer Coordinator, at (773) 295-2709, or e-mail him at MikeL@HOMEseniors.org. It is free to join. Fundraising is not necessary, but it is encouraged. Those who are interested in participating will be contacted next spring.
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Hunger Walk a success. We could not have done it without your help and support!
