Seniors at the Shedd Aquarium

On Sunday evening, at dinner time, the seniors from Pat Crowley House were served a home made meal, prepared by Jennifer and Scott. They are volunteers who like to cook and became aware of the guest chef opportunity offered by H.O.M.E. - and a short time later, the residents had Pasta Bolognese with Broccoli, and Chocolate Cheesecake for dessert on their plates. The company of the two friendly, open volunteers at the dinner table was very welcome. It's always nice to have new faces coming to the Good Life Senior Residences.

The next day, on Monday at 10:30 am, the seniors Jean, Judy and Charlotte were ready to leave Pat Crowley House for and outing to the Shedd Aquarium. Since it was one of those free admission days for Illinois residents, and since the aquarium is a popular place, there was a long line of people waiting to get in. Fortunately, the weather was warm and sunny, so that was not too big of a deal for the seniors.

As soon as the three got in, the first thing to see was the big Pritzker Caribbean Reef, where you could observe plenty of different sea creatures from a turtle to an octopus. A huge Anaconda was held in the Amazon Rising section of the museum, where the residents went next. At 12:30 pm, seniors from Nathalie Salmon House and their housing coordinator Nikki joined the group at the Polar Play Zone and brought lunch bags for everyone. After exploring the penguins and the Beluga whales, and returning back to the Reef, it was time to leave because everyone was getting tired.
