#MemoriesMonday: Some of our favorite throwback photos of H.O.M.E.
This year, H.O.M.E. is celebrating 35 years of bringing joy, connectedness, and independence to low-income seniors in Chicago.
Take a stroll down memory lane with us. Here are a few of our favorite throwback photos.
Michel and Lilo Salmon founded H.O.M.E. in 1982 to provide essential housing support service for low-income elderly. They began by helping seniors find and move into decent, affordable housing.
Michel and Lilo returned for a visit in 2014 for the 20th anniversary of the opening of Nathalie Salmon House, an intergenerational building they built in memory of their daughter.
Michel and Lilo pioneered intergenerational housing in Chicago. When Pat Crowley House opened in 1983, it was the first building in the city to intentionally blend people of all ages in a living environment. Today, we still see the positive impact of their vision on the lives of seniors.
Over the years, H.O.M.E. has provided housing and housing support services to thousands of seniors throughout the City of Chicago. Today, our Upkeep & Repair, Shopping Bus, Moving, and Intergenerational Housing programs help seniors maintain their independence and stay connected to their community.

Our Volunteer Program connects volunteers with seniors in our buildings as well as with senior homeowners living in their own homes. Each year, our weatherization program helps senior homeowners stay safe and warm in their homes. Our volunteer-run program also helps seniors save on energy costs.
Ten years ago, we celebrated 25 years of serving seniors in Chicago.
On April 27, 2017, we will be celebrating our 35th anniversary at Bridgeport Art Center. We hope you will join us! Please save the date. If you would like to volunteer or otherwise get involved, please contact Amber at AmberM@homeseniors.org.
