H.O.M.E. receives grant from Peoples Gas
The staff, board, and clients of H.O.M.E. would like to thank Peoples Gas for its generous grant of $10,000 to support our Volunteer Program. Our program connects community members of all ages with seniors in the City of Chicago.
Throughout the year, H.O.M.E. welcomes volunteers for seasonal and ongoing projects as well as one-time volunteer opportunities. Volunteers work with clients living in H.O.M.E.’s intergenerational housing as well as with those seniors who live independently in other Chicago communities. At our houses, volunteers cook on the weekends, entertain and facilitate activities, help at holiday celebrations, garden, paint, and do spring cleaning. H.O.M.E.
A group weatherizes homes for seniors
In the fall and winter, volunteer groups help weatherize homes. For several years, a group from Peoples Gas has volunteered with us during their Team H.E.A.T. project. It is a huge help to seniors and is fun and easy for volunteers! Thanks, Peoples Gas, for continuing to partner with us to help low-income seniors in Chicago remain independent.
H.O.M.E. strongly believes in bridging the generations. We believe that we all have a great deal to offer each other. Our Volunteer Program is looking for people of all ages willing to share their various skills and talents.
